Driving Opportunities
Montage

Independent contract drivers experience higher compensation, increased flexibility, and greater independence than any other couriers.

What you need to know about driving for Street Fleet:

The Work
Each day you will sign on by calling your dispatcher from home and letting him/her know you are ready for your first delivery. Your first pickup will be as close to your home as possible. You will be in radio contact with the dispatcher and you will receive assignments over your two-way pager. You will pickup a package at a location and deliver it yourself to another location. You may be delivering anything from envelopes to boxes and to locations from offices to manufacturers. You may be given numerous orders at once in which case you and the dispatcher can decide on the best routes to take. Your goal, and ours, is to find the fastest way to deliver the group of orders. The more you deliver, the more you make.

Independent Contractor
You are operating your own business while working for Street Fleet. You will be supplied with the equipment to operate for us. You may determine your own schedule subject to the needs of management. "Your business" may perform work for other contractors, subject to our contract provisions.
As an Independent Contractor along with the responsibility of the work comes a certain amount of administrative work. You are responsible for all tax filings and payments. You are responsible for complying with any governing agency including MnDOT. You will not be eligible for certain traditional benefits such as vacation pay or health insurance. We strongly recommend that you consult with a qualified accountant regarding the tax requirements of an independent contractor.
Settlements.
You will be paid a percentage of the billing to our customer for each run that you do. Charges average between $5 and $25 per delivery. You will have between 10 and 30 deliveries each day. In addition, other charges such as waiting time are also paid to you. You will be paid on the 10th & 25th of each month for the half-month period ending 10 days prior.
The amount of available work that you receive varies from day to day and from week to week. Although there are no guarantees of the amount that you will make, current drivers will attest that your pay is closely related to the amount of time and pace at which you are willing to work. Street Fleet seeks to maximize the pay that drivers receive by staffing only with the number of drivers needed to perform the work that it has available and can be completed in a timely manner. Advances are available under certain circumstances.
